Slippery Ice January 4, 2025

Residents of the Deep South are learning some lessons this week that our fellow citizens further north learned at their mother's knee. We had snow yesterday, in a part of the world where it rarely snows. Of course, when the snow fall ended, the places on the sidewalk that were exposed to the sun melted. Since last night's temperatures were in the mid 20's, that melted snow turned to ice, and those areas of the sidewalk that are not exposed to the sun are still frozen and very slippery. It only takes a few steps to realize that those "wet spots" are really ice, and if you don't carefully step around them, you can find yourself picking yourself up from the ground.
