All Boats February 20, 2025

The Old Man doesn’t talk too much about politics, but he does think about it – a lot. He is a Liberal who lives in a deeply Conservative part of the World. As he ate his lunch recently, he tuned into the NPR News, as he usually does. Ezra Klein reported on steps taken by the new administration in their first week in office. 

The new guys are zealous in their intention to reverse any and all legislation passed over the last four years to benefit the poor and downtrodden. They seem to be saying, “We don’t give a damn about your suffering and your poverty, or your substandard schools. It was the wealthy people who put us in office. They are the ones we listen to.” 

The Old Man believes that “A rising tide raises all boats”, as did Madison and Jefferson.  He believes that no regime can govern wisely if it doesn’t take into consideration the lives of its poor, its downtrodden. He wants his government to be for ALL the people, not just the favored few.
